>Federal Joint Committee | Innovation Fund

Statistical AnalysesEvaluation

The overall objective of this study is to improve the care of cancer patients. Through preventive crisis management, intensified patient education and the implementation of palliative early integration, hospital admissions are to be reduced, patient competence increased and interdisciplinary cooperation improved. To this end, an OncoCoach - a medical specialist / nurse trained according to a special curriculum - will be established in oncology centers. The OncoCoach accompanies the patients and trains them in therapies and nursing measures. He also coordinates the interface to other care providers. Through the grant, the effects of OncoCoaching with structured implementation and early realization of early integration are now being evaluated.

Through a secondary data analysis using claims data of AOK Hesse, the collection of primary data in a cluster-randomized study and an accompanying process evaluation, the effects of the new interdisciplinary care system consisting of physician, OncoCoach and palliative care on the target parameters are examined.

As part of the evaluation, the PMV research group takes over the data preparation and analyses of the claims data as well as the socio-economic impact assessment.
